This month’s award goes to…
Hélène Carpentier de Caro from Lloyd’s, who was nominated for taking up the role of Volunteer Coordinator at John Scurr Primary School after only being a Number Partner for a short period of time. Quickly after taking on the role, she has grown the number of volunteers and also supported the school to organise and recruit additional volunteers for Computer Partners.
Hélène loves volunteering at the school and is very passionate about the students that she supports. Her commitment to John Scurr has meant she has also become a School Governor. Hélène also mentors a student from Oakland’s Secondary School and has organised a work experience placement for her at Lloyd’s during her Easter holidays.
About her volunteering she says: “I always look forward to going to John Scurr Primary School for number partners. It’s been wonderful to build rapport with the pupils and see them grow in confidence with their maths skills; it is always good fun to play board games with them. I always feel refreshed when I get back to my desk and ready to overcome any challenges.
It’s a great way to put things into perspective while having an impact on our community. Coordinating a mixed Lloyd’s market scheme has been very interesting as I get to know people across different companies and I enjoy being the point of contact for the school. Being a coordinator has allowed be to become a Governor at the school and learn more about education and the impact we can have.”
Many congratulations Hélène, we hope you enjoy the new academic year!
